One of our core research strengths is the study of gun, gang & drug-Professor Christopher Melde
related violence. Assistant Professor Chris Melde’s article in a recent edition of Criminology (May 2009) presents the counter-intuitive finding
that although youth who join gangs are at increased risk of being
assaulted or killed, they actually feel safer through gang involvement.

The certificate is offered by the School, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, and the Environmental Science and Policy Program.
