Internships

The internship program is the capstone to your academic experience. An internship offers a planned program of observation, participation, and study in a selected criminal justice agency. During the internship, students apply their academic experience in a professional setting while exploring a possible career choice. Through the internship, students can acquire many of the skills necessary to compete in today’s job market.

The criminal justice internship coordinator works with students to ensure an appropriate placement. Internships are available in corrections, juvenile justice, policing, pre-law, government, forensic science, and security. During the internship, an agency supervisor provides an orientation to the agency as well as ongoing supervision. Assistance in determining learning objectives is also provided. Work schedules may vary from 10 to 40 hours per week depending on the individual agency and your needs. Approximately 200 criminal justice students participate in the internship program each year.
