Rex W. Scouten
Rex
Scouten graduated the Class of 1948, Police Administration. After
graduation he joined the U. S. Secret Service and was assigned
to the White House under President Harry S. Truman. After his assignment
with the Secret Service he continued to serve at the White House
as Chief Usher, Assistant Regional Director for White House Liaison
with the National Park Service, Chief Usher and then was appointed
in 1986 as Curator of the White House until 1997 when he retired
from Federal service.
Rex’s other accomplishments include the President’s
Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service, the George
McAneny and the American Historical Preservation Society. He
is also an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects,
Regent Emeritus of the American Architecture Foundation, member
of the Board for Preservation of the White House, member of the
Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, Association of
Former Agents of the U. S. Secret Service, Historic Fairfax,
Inc., the Music Educators National Coordinative Conference and
the Arts Gallery Advisory Board. |
