Victor G. Strecher, Ph.D.
Dr.
Strecher graduated from Michigan State University, Police Administration
with honors in 1953 and earned a Masters in political science in
1957. He began his career as a police officer with the Michigan
State University Police Department and was rapidly promoted to
Detective and Sergeant. He received three commendations for outstanding
service connected with criminal apprehensions. Victor became an
instructor, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Field Service
Training program, School of Police Administration from 1956-59.
Dr. Strecher pursued his research and practitioner
interests and took a position as the Director of the Law Enforcement
Policy Study Center, at Washington University.
Dr. Strecher returned to Michigan State University,
School of Criminal Justice as a professor, graduate coordinator
and acting Director. Victor was soon offered the position of
Director of the Criminal Justice Center at Arizona State University
where he served until 1978.
Dr. Strecher retired as Professor Emeritus, College
of Criminal Justice, Sam Houston University where he served as
their Dean and Director. He received the ACJS Police Section
O. W. Wilson Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Policing. |
