Theodore L. Vernier
Theodore
graduated from Police Administration in June of 1957 and began
his career as a federal narcotics agent, joining the Federal Bureau
of Narcotics in Cleveland and later with the Bureau of Drug Abuse
Control in Detroit and Baltimore. Theodore served in the capacity
as the Deputy Regional Director for the Bureau of Drug Abuse Control.
In 1970, the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous
Drugs selected him to establish the nation’s first task
force in New York City an independent narcotic enforcement entity
acting as a “federal agency” with the collaboration
of the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs and the New York
City Troopers. The effort Theodore brought to the task force
initiative developed into the Justice Departments Office of Drug
Abuse Law Enforcement that established task forces, nationwide,
based on the New York model.
Tedodore’s continued to form the first DEA “Airport
Group”, a task force of federal, state, county and municipal
officers dedicated to disrupting the flow of drugs through our
nation’s airports. Theodore’s distinguished law enforcement
continued in the field of security, as Director of Investigations
and Manager of Corporate Security for the Chrysler Corporation.
He also served as a past member of the School of Criminal Justice
Alumni Association. |
