CHRISTOPHER E. SMITH
SCHOOL OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE
MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY
I have broad interests encompassing many aspects of criminal
justice policy and the operations of the criminal justice system. Many of
my books and articles examine topics concerning law and courts. Recent publications
address such topics as the Bill of Rights in the post-9/11 era, the U.S. Supreme
Court and constitutional criminal procedure, the impact of technology on constitutional
rights, and symbolic aspects of law. My current research projects include
such topics as the Rehnquist Court’s impact on criminal justice policy,
prisoners’ rights, and the role of law in policy processes affecting
criminal justice.
I teach the following courses in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan
State University:
CJ 375: Criminal Law Process
CJ 471: Law of Corrections
CJ 474: Law and Criminal Justice Policy
CJ 873: Legal Issues in Criminal Justice
