Teachers, Administrators and Staff Safety Pledge
Recognizing that every student deserves a safe learning environment and that I play an important role in school safety and violence prevention, I hereby pledge that:
- I will recognize verbal and physical taunts, comments or abuse against any person, for any reason (race, creed, gender, size, socioeconomic status, etc.) is violence and I will respond to eliminate such hurtful interactions.
- I will promote respect for others.
- I will take action immediately if a student tells me about any bullying activity.
- I will take action immediately if I am informed of any misuse of technology (Web pages, text messaging, instant messenger, camera phones) to bully, tease or hurt a student.
- I will communicate and support the school’s policy on guns and weapons, reporting all violations and appropriately focusing on the responsibility we all have when dealing with guns and weapons.
- I will support violence prevention/safety promotion strategies in the schools and communities in my area. -I will model and encourage positive conflict management skills.
- I will reinforce those individuals who provide positive role models to their peers.
- I will take seriously any reports of weapons or violence in school.
