Since 1935, MSU has been a leader in criminal justice scholarship with its pioneering research, undergraduate and graduate education and collaboration with criminal justice agencies, private firms, and communities.

Today the school focuses on the future by focusing attention on issues of crime and security including identity theft and computer security, DNA technology, international crime and security, school safety, domestic violence and the challenges facing an increasingly diverse society.

The school is a leader in innovative teaching in master’s degree and certificate programs offered online and a revised Ph.D. program that better addresses doctoral scholarship in the new century.  However, to continue to grow and enjoy the excellence that we have all come to know, our graduate scholarships need the support of our alum and friends.

Please join us by contributing to the Arthur F. Brandstatter, Criminal Justice Alumni, Louis A. Radelet Diversity or the Zolton Ferency Graduate Scholarships. Your gift to any of these scholarships significantly enhances our ability to stay a leader in the criminal justice field.

Louis A. Radelet Graduate
Diversity Scholarship

Louis A. Radelet
was a Notre Dame product and a sociologist who anticipated as early as 1955 the growing issue of "police community relations," a term he coined and then elaborated upon in two standard textbooks.

After devoting several years to help desegregate and "humanize" the police, he joined the staff in 1963 and became one of the founders and "Directors of the National Center on Police and Community Relations" at the school. Louis A. Radelet also helped organize the annual National Institute on Police and Community Relations.

The Louis A. Radelet Graduate Diversity Scholarship provides financial support for criminal justice graduate students.

Zolton Ferency Endowed
Scholarship

Zolton Ferency, enrolled in the criminal justice graduate program because he felt that"The question of law and order had become the most critical political issue in the country," he stated, "and I wanted to learn how academic experts viewed these issues".

His students came from all majors, the majority from Criminal Justice but others also filled his classroom to learn from his lectures and first hand experiences in the criminal justice arena. He was well respected for his objectivity and lack of partisanship.

The Zolton Ferency Endowed Scholarship supports undergraduate or graduate criminal justice students based on financial need.
