Focus: A two day interactive workshop for police officers and investigators on effectively recognizing and working with domestic elder abuse.

Program:

• Help police better understand the scope and nature of domestic elder abuse problems.
• Provide officers with information about the elderly population and aging process that will enable them to interact more effectively with elderly victims, suspects and witnesses.
• Provide officers with practical information on effectively responding to victims of domestic elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.
• To assist police in understanding the network of health and social service agencies and to utilize effective referrals to community agencies.
• To bring awareness to the officer of legal and ethical issues involved with decisions involving the elderly.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be received at least seven days prior to the first day of the program to receive a refund.

Instructors: The instructors are all experienced and highly qualified individuals with expertise and backgrounds dealing with elderly abuse and criminal justice. Sessions are team taught with active participation from attendees.
