Biography

Alyssa Pettera is a second-year master’s student in the School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University, where she is also pursuing the Youth Development Specialist graduate certificate. In 2024, Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology at Northern Illinois University, where she also earned certifications in Criminology and Adolescence.

Alyssa's research interests include justice-involved youth, probation, and rehabilitation outcomes. She is currently working under Dr. Caitlin Cavanagh as a Graduate Research Assistant and lab manager for the Juvenile Risk Assessment Team at the Family Division of Ingham County Circuit Court.

Alyssa also serves as the Master’s in Criminal Justice Representative for the Graduate Student Association for the 2025-2026 academic year.
